one point i'd like to make, the storms of late have gotten A LOT worse and a lot more frequent than in prior years. when most of those people moved in i'm sure they expected a few category 2's or something (which actually arn't too bad when you think about it), but a category effing FIVE? that's world-ending power in that kind of storm. nobody ever expects that sort of thing, and if they do they must lead an awfuly sad existance.
the levy's wern't built for the kind of storm-surge that a BIG storm can produce, which just proves my above statement. no one could EXPECT something like what happend.

(fyi, the tornado rate is much higher inland than on the coast.)

i was born in Florida, i love it here and intend to stay here regardless of the weather. it's a beautiful state, with lots of history, and i like it here. i think people in Louisiana and Mississippi would feel the same way about their home (that whole Southern Pride thing) , so who do you think you are to say that you don't feel sory for someone, anyone, who lost thier home and just about all their possesions? would you want me to say i don't feel sorry for someone who lived up north who suffered through a cataclysmic snowstorm or something?

remember the Golden Rule my friend, "Treat others as you would like to be treated."

How many times must I say this...I'm not a cold-hearted person, I do have compassion and respect for others and I did say that if you had ANY other reasons that would make sense, then yes. I'd feel sorry for you. (You've already made me feel like an ass. :\ )It's that simple. I know it is a beautiful place, and you wish to live there. S'ok. :3 I have no probs. If the weather is common to having natural disasters and you still wish to be there, no problem. I do have compassion for those that have lost, those that have suffered. I still would care about them, as I normally care about all people. It's just, living there and people wanting to rebuild, repair....It's not worth it. It's not worth the lives, the time. Just leave it be.
